{life} catching up + a healthy lifestyle

Um. How is it already Thursday again?! I completely did not blog for over a week. Bad blogger award.

I have valid excuses, I promise!

I had 3 midterms, a million assignments, and a paper proposal due last week.
DEATH OF ME.

Just when I didn't think I could survive another minute at school, I rode home to Tampa with my old roomie, Morgan! It was the perfect weekend escape from Tallahassee (even though I had to watch my Noles and my dad's Gators get murdered on the football field one game after another). We ate lots of yummy food - pork chops with wild rice, warm cinnamon apples, and roasted squash w/ an amaretto sauce one night and homemade pizza on the grill stone topped with goat cheese, prosciutto, and fresh sage the next night. I hadn't been home all semester so it was nice to just sit around with my parents and lounge all day! We watched a movie called Mao's Last Dancer Saturday night. There were a few slightly cheesy scenes, but for the most part it was a great movie. I definitely recommend it! The dancing was beautiful and I loved having a glimpse into Chinese history.

When I got back to Tallahassee on Sunday, I went straight to my chapter meeting at Phi Mu. The next day was rainy and dreary so I completely reorganized my closet. It is looking beeeyoootiful right now. (FINALLY) Long story short, I have been blog slacking. But I'm back (again). :)

Oh by the way, Tuesday night my boyfriend booked my plane ticket to go to NY in November. SO EXCITED. I cannnnot wait to see him and to finally experience a Northeastern Autumn. My roommate is traveling to her old stomping grounds in Milwaukee the same weekend I am going to New York. Needless to say, we both looked at each other and said ONE MONTH. We did some kickboxing on-demand later that night.

Have you ever heard of Exercise TV On-Demand?
I am newly obsessed.
I despise running and anything involving me having to go to an actual gym to workout. I don't know of any workout circuits off the top of my head and on top of everything else, I have to be very careful while exercising because of the herniated disc in my lower back. When my roommate suggested we workout in our living room I was completely on board. Exercise TV has a million great workout videos to choose from. In the past two days I have done kickboxing, two abs videos, and a stretch/strengthening video. LOVE IT.

I'm so glad that I have found a more enjoyable exercise option that will work with my love of healthy food.
Here are two of my favorite breakfast options -

(photo is my own)
Non-fat Greek yogurt topped with mixed berries (save money and buy a frozen berries bag in the freezer section! Run them under water to defrost slightly before putting them in your yogurt), sliced almonds, agave, and cinnamon.

Whole-wheat toast topped with almond butter and sliced bananas.
I like to drizzle some agave and sprinkle some cinnamon on this as well!

Do you have a favorite exercise video or circuit that has worked for you?
Leave some ideas in the comment section. :)
Happy Thursday friends!

  3. I did Excercise TV on Tuesday because it was raining and worked on those trouble spots "Ass and Abs." Definitely felt those sqauts the next day! Feeling so inspired by your healthy eating!
