{travel}

"Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living.”
– Miriam Beard

After flying back to Tampa from NYC, I had three days to do laundry, re-pack, and re-set before it was time to make my way back to the airport for a long day of traveling. This time though, I headed to the west coast with my parents. We went on an Alaskan cruise with my mom's side of the family and both of my grandmothers to celebrate their birthdays. Before we left for the cruise, we allowed ourselves enough time to explore the cruise-port city, Seattle. I'm so glad we did! For the next week or so, I will split up my trip on a day-by-day posting. I have so many exciting foodie adventures to share with y'all! Look out for blog posts coming this week about my walking tour through Pike's Place Market, wine tasting & beer tasting tours in Woodinville, WA, the cooking class I took on the cruise ship with the executive chef of the Pinnacle Grill (premier restaurant on the ship), and all of the great meals I had the entire week. I cannot forget to blog about my fun outdoorsy adventures in Alaska as well! Stay tuned. :)

{travel} NYC & RI

"Live, travel, adventure, bless, and don't be sorry."
- Jack Kerouac

So, in the amount of time that I have been gone, I visited NY, RI, WA, AK, and Victoria, Canada. So much to talk about and so little time! Needless to say, I haven't exactly been cooking much... Forgive me if I don't write about my cooking adventures the next few posts. I will begin my travel adventures posts about my trip to New York City and Newport, RI!

To begin with, I live in Tallahassee, FL. My boyfriend lives in NYC. This is quite a hindrance, but we make it work & in the meantime get to explore fun places on our visits to see each other. It all started with a scheduled-two-months-in-advance trip for me to visit him in the city for a week. As we got to talking about what we wanted to do during my week-long visit, we came up with a brilliant plan. He wanted to get out of the city and suggested that we roadtrip to Newport, RI. As soon as I started to Google-stalk the small Northeastern town, I was hooked. Here are a few pictures from our trip!
The bed and breakfast we stayed at.
We went sailing on the Schooner Aquidneck.
Photos around Newport
We also did the Cliff Walk!
 While it was certainly sad to say goodbye to Newport, we were excited to get back to the city and meet up with friends. I didn't take very many pictures of the city this trip because I took enough to probably last me a lifetime when I was in NY in December.

(1) View of the city from Seth's building's roof. (2) The NYC Public Library.
(3) The Metropolitan Museum of Art. (4) A night out with my Phi Mu sisters.
I was so excited to get to spend time with sisters who are now living their big girl lives in the big city.
 It was also fun exploring the public library and the MET with Seth (especially since it was an average of 101 heat index the entire time I was there. Indoor activities, FOR THE WIN!)

I had a blast this trip relaxing (and navigating the Northeast) with my boyfriend.
Can't wait until my next vacation in the city! :)
