Every few Saturdays, my mom would take me to run errands with her when I was little. When we would
go to TJMAXX, Marshalls, Target, and Home Goods, I would wander around in the clothes and toys
section, and then get really bored. My mom would spend what seemed like FOREVER in the aisles filled
to the brim with home decor and kitchen items. The only consolation to this childhood torture was that
we would normally split a Happy Meal or Chik-fil-a kids meal and a milkshake after.
Hey. It's the little things right?
Now that I'm older, I find myself wandering through the same stores in the same aisles as my mom so many
years ago. Needless to say, it is much more enjoyable for us to go run errands together now.
With age comes an appreciation for all things design and culinary. :)
I love the idea that you can take something cheap that you find in a discount store, and turn it into something WONDERFUL. My cousin is especially good at this. She has an Etsy store called
Revitalized Relics, where she takes old, forgotten thrift store items and turns them into something beautiful.

Here are some ideas for fun DIY items that I would love to have in the next house I decorate. :)
Favorite Coffee Table: This table is technically not DIY, as it comes from an Etsy store, but I just love the fact that you can store items in all of the sides. I am envisioning a stack of crates like these as a cute bedside table as well! Somewhere to store the remotes besides on the table top? Genius!

Favorite hanging mirror: I adore the nautical feel of this mirror. The original poster of this mirror was able to make it for around $50. That is a STEAL, considering most quality mirrors are at least $150 or more.

Favorite Bookshelf Styling: I never would have thought that a bookshelf could be used as such a focal point of a room. This bookshelf is beautiful. I love the eclectic pieces that tie it all together.

Favorite bathroom idea: This is actually a DIY project that my dad did for our own bathrooms years ago. It makes a huge difference and is quite easy.

Favorite Kitchen Statement: This is a great idea for a tiny kitchen with not much storage space. While I dream of one day having a huge, perfect, chef's kitchen someday... I am stuck with the reality that it will definitely not be happening any time soon. In the meantime, this recycled use of an old rake is perfect to ease up some space in the cabinets of all of those bulky wine glasses. I also love the crate filled with wine corks at the bottom of the picture.

Favorite Jewelry Storage: Jewelry is beautiful. Why should it be hidden away? The next place I decorate will certainly have my jewelry on display as part of the decor. My sorority sister did it beautifully in her new LA studio. You can check it out here!
