{travel} day 3 road trippin' USA... or at least the lowcountry

{catch up on the beginning of this incredible road trip through the low country in these posts: day 1 & day 2}  aaaand we're back. Let the road trip posts recommence. Our third day traveling began with a bit of a hangover and a terrible brunch. However, it was an absolutely beeeeautifulll day so we pushed past the discomfort and made some touristy moves. This post will be short because all we really did all was wander around and obsess over all of the regal mansions and the stunning view of the Charleston Harbor from the Battery and Waterfront Park. Charleston is just such a relaxing place to be, especially on a day as warm and beautiful like the day we were there.

As we were staying at Upper King Street, we decided to take a pedicab to the southern tip of the peninsula to explore the Battery and Waterfront Park. The pedicab service is a really great way to get around town without having to drive and look for parking everywhere. Our pedicab bikers were extremely friendly and knew a lot about the history of the city. Although they really only needed to take us from point A to point B, they made sure to give us suggestions for sightseeing, where to eat, and where to drink. It was very much appreciated!

One of the tips our pedicab biker gave us was to spend more time walking down Legare Street than the ultra-famous Rainbow Row. In her opinion, Legare Street is the most beautiful street in all of Charleston. We could certainly see why. The houses were huge and historical, and many were for sale. Alex and I kept trying to decide which one we were going to buy {in our dreams}. ;)

After thoroughly exploring Legare and the surrounding streets, Alex and I headed north to meet one of his fraternity brothers from college for lunch. We wanted a quick bite to eat that wouldn't fill us up too much, as we had verrry fancy dinner reservations for the evening. We ended up meeting up with his friend at a little Greek cafe on King. As the boys discussed college memories and caught up on life, I was texting a very good blog friend, Heather. We've been *internet friends* since the days of Tumblr blogging and writing for Prep Talk together, so I was super excited to finally meet her *IRL* in her new city, Charleston. :)

After grabbing some Starbucks, wandering through the Kate Spade store on King, and taking a picture for Instagram (we are bloggers after all), Heather and I split ways. We definitely will need to meet again! Who's in for a multi-state blogger meet up?!

Taking Heather's advice, Alex and I signed up for a carriage tour with Old South Carriage so that we could learn a bit more history about the old Southern city. Most of the carriages wait near the old Market, so we took some time to check out the vendors and all of the beautiful Gullah sweetgrass baskets.

A Lutheran church with its trademark red door.

The Old Jail during the day is almost as scary as the Old Jail at night. Yes. We went inside of that. eeeek.

Barbie's dream house?

After a long day walking all over Charleston, Alex and I went back to our hostel to take a much deserved nap. We had to rest up for the star moment of our trip after all.... dinner at Husk! This was our one splurge meal, and ooooh was it worth it! Husk is known to be one of the best new restaurants in America. It certainly lived up to its hype. While we waited for our reservation slot, we drank delicious cocktails at the Husk bar, which was next door in a separate building. We were in gastronomical heaven from beginning to end. I could tell you exactly what we ate that night, but the Husk menu changes daily. So just go and prepare to be surprised. :)

Charleston, two days just weren't enough. I know I'll be back someday soon.

Lowcountry Road Trip:
Day 1: Savannah, GA
Day 2: Beaufort, SC, Firefly Distillery, Folly Beach Pier, and Charleston, SC.
